“Cap San Diego”

“Cap San Diego” is the name of the seaworthy museum ship in the Hamburg port.

One of the hatches in the after-body was to be converted to an „event location “. Two former refrigerating chambers for the transport of cattle halves from Argentina and a central area were completely rebuilt and set up for theatre and music performances.

The lighting had to accomplish the balancing act between sociable events with party character and respectable dramatic readings or theatre performances. In addition the hatchway is removed on warm summer evenings, so that the view of the night sky is not barred.

On the one hand details like the vertical furrows ("Sicken") in the ship walls or the old hooks, that formerly served for hanging up the animal halves, were illuminated. By means of different circuits the stage lighting and the lights fixed to the ceilings and walls can be controlled centrally in such a way that the light can react flexibly to the respective situation.
